Compatibility

As a proprietary design, GuitarForm Juggernaut bodies are only compatible with GuitarForm pickguards.

GuitarForm Juggernaut bodies are compatible with standard 25-1/2″ scale necks, and we recommend using a 22-fret neck with fretboard overhang if you are trying to recreate an authentic look with vintage-style neck pickup. The neck pocket position allows for a 24-3/4″ scale conversion neck with fretboard overhang if desired.

Pickguard Configuration

Our Juggernaut bodies are designed to be used with control plates, so no alternative knob or switch routing is available. You might be able to source your own control plates with custom control routes, and the manufacturers of those plates usually make every effort for the plate to be compatible with standard vintage routing – we encourage you to experiment with these, however we of course cannot guarantee compatibility with those products.

Features & Options

Contours

Our comfort contours are generally a little deeper in the arm and a little shallower in the belly than most vintage contours (though size, shape and depth of vintage contours varies widely in different years of manufacture and even from instrument to instrument in the same year of manufacture).

We have worked hard to achieve organic, melty contours that don’t exhibit a prominent edge / line where they meet the flat surface of the body – and we pay as much attention to how they combine and sculpt the edge of the body as we do to the graphic they impart on the faces.

Whilst their smoothness makes them more subtle in appearance than some contours, we really bring out their beauty by maximising the surface area – which is to say that their presence is physically larger on the face and back of the guitar. In many cases, our contours measure more than twice the area of our competitors’!

The result is a coherent form and character which perfectly complements the curves of the model silhouette – a smooth, sculptural quality that you can enjoy in unparalleled playing comfort.

Design

Our Juggernaut is based around the original 24″ scale design, and made compatible instead with a 25-1/2″ scale neck. These tweaks have effectively unlocked the “Jugular” shape as a versatile platform for all kinds of bridge, pickup and control options in a way that was previously impossible without drastic and irreversible modification to an original instrument. We hope “Jugular” lovers everywhere will appreciate the endless possibilities our solution opens up to design and configure a dream offset instrument that’s a little more unique than your usual offset project.

We have applied our formula of subtle tweaks to the bridge, neck pocket and pickup positions to bring this vintage design into line with the full complement of 25-1/2″ scale-compatible necks without ruining the beautiful, classic lines of the original.

Aside from the neck heel position, the body perimeter is exactly the same shape as our standard Jugular model and features identical smooth, large area body contours. It is designed to be compatible with standard control plates (not included).

You could even use a conversion neck to achieve a 24-3/4″ scale, or even a baritone scale! You can equip the Juggernaut with a pair of JM pickups to make a stylish Platemaster, or let loose your creativity on our full list of pickup and bridge options. We recommend a neck with a fretboard overhang if you want the most authentic look, but it is not strictly necessary (especially if you’re opting for non-standard pickup options).

Full Scale, but with the same iconic styling!

If you’ve always loved this model but found the shorter scale problematic for your playing comfort (or limiting for neck pairing options) then the Juggernaut is for you!
